Generate for Impact: Building the Next Generation of SRHR Research Leaders in Zambia

The National Health Research Authority (NHRA), with support from the Regional SRHR Fund under Hivos Southern Africa is excited to announce a call for applications for the 2025/2026 Youth Researchers Academy. This is a unique, fully funded opportunity for passionate young Zambians to build skills in research and contribute to improving Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) in their communities.

About the Academy:

This pioneering initiative, under the "Generate for Impact" project, aims to equip youth researchers with the practical skills to generate, manage, and use evidence to influence decision-making. Selected candidates will undergo comprehensive training, receive hands-on mentorship, and conduct real research on critical ASRHR issues in Zambia.

What You Will Gain:

  • Intensive Training: Skills in problem identification, research proposal development, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

  • Expert Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from experienced researchers to conduct a research study from start to finish.

  • Practical Experience: Work in a team to develop, execute, and disseminate findings from a real-world research project.

  • Leadership Development: Opportunity to be trained as a future trainer for the academy.

  • Mental Health and SRHR

  • Contraception and SRHR

  • HIV and SRHR

  • Drug Abuse and SRHR

  • Innovative ideas in SRHR

We Are Looking for You If You Are:

  • A Zambian national aged between 18 and 30 years.

  • A recent graduate (within the last 2 years) with a diploma/degree in Public Health, Demography, Social Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Data Science, or a related field OR a final-year student in these disciplines.

  • A young professional affiliated with a youth-led or youth-serving organization working in SRHR.

  • Passionate about adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health rights.

  • Eager to learn research methodologies (prior experience is beneficial but not mandatory).

  • Committed to participating fully in the program (including workshops and mentorship sessions in Lusaka).
