ADOLESCENT HEALTH RESEARCH AND BEST PRACTICES SYMPOSIUM: CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Theme: Strengthening evidence-based programming to improve and sustain adolescent health and development

Ministry of Health and National Health Research Authority in collaboration with partners is organizing a national research and best practices symposium to be held on 15 and 16th December, 2021. All work related to research, program data and good practices can be submitted for consideration as an oral or poster presentation.

Additional information for abstracts for best practices: In describing the intervention, the following programmatic components qualifying best practices:

· Relevance in addressing the operational and programming areas of adolescent health and development;

· Innovative in demonstrating new and creative ideas to solving the problems;

· Impact demonstrating a positive and tangible result that enhances program delivery and contributes to long term results; and

· Replicability in that it serves as an effective model and has potential for application to other contexts/programs.

When preparing abstracts, follow the instructions below:

·        Times new roman font 12

·        Spacing; 1.5

·        Fully Justified

·        Maximum word count: 350 words Research Abstract and 500 words for Best Practices Abstract.

Abstract based on original research should have the following sections:

·        Title

·        Authorship and affiliation

·        Background/introduction

·        Methods

·        Results

·        Conclusion/recommendations

·        Up to five key words

Abstracts based on best practices should have the following sections:

·        Title

·        Authorship and affiliation

·        Background/introduction

·        Description of intervention

·        Conclusion/recommendations

·        Up to five key words


All abstracts related to the conference theme can be submitted under one of the following sub-themes:

·   Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights;

·        HIV/AIDS and other STIs (including PMTCT targeting AYP)

·        Alcohol and Substance Abuse;

·        Non-Communicable Diseases including nutrition and mental health;

·        Adolescents with special needs and

·        Sexual and Gender Based Violence

·        Adolescent health service delivery approaches

·        Approaches to/for engaging adolescents in programming and research
