Dr Sebastian Hachizovu

Dr Hachizovu is a Senior Medical Scientific Officer at the National Health Research and Training Institute (NHRTI). He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 2001 at the University of Zambia. He did his internship at the Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital where he also served as Director of Clinical services. He joined the then TDRC (now NHRTI) in 2006 as a Scientific Officer. He served as Head of Clinical Sciences department at NHRTI from 2012 to 2020.

He is a Public Health specialist with a Master of Public Health in Disease Control (MPH-DC) from Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium (2010). He is also seasoned Researcher with 20 years’ experience in Clinical trials, the bulk of which is in malaria. He has served as Principal investigator and Co-Investigator on a number of Clinical trials and other Biomedical studies in Zambia

Dr Hachizovu has served both as Chairperson and member of a number of Data Safety Monitoring Boards, member of Malaria Case Management Technical Working Group.

He served as Lead mentor on the Data to Policy (D2P) training program which was anchored by the National Health Research Authority and currently is the NHRTI Site supervisor for the Field Epidemiology Training Program

His research interests are Malaria, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and implementation research
