Quality Improvement (QI) in healthcare is a structured, systematic, and continuous approach aimed at enhancing the quality of health services and patient outcomes. It addresses systemic challenges within healthcare systems by promoting efficient processes, cost-effectiveness, and patient-centred outcomes. As healthcare systems strive for higher performance, QI serves as a vital framework for driving improvements across interconnected processes.

By focusing on key principles such as safety, effectiveness, timeliness, equity, and patient-centeredness, QI helps healthcare institutions transform service delivery. It plays a crucial role in tackling both financial challenges and clinical inefficiencies, ultimately saving lives and optimizing resource utilization. By eliminating wasteful practices and promoting innovation, QI initiatives lead to more sustainable healthcare systems.

Goal

The goal for the Qi Conference is to create a collaborative platform for healthcare providers, researchers, and community members to share experiences and develop actionable strategies for improving health outcomes at both the client and community levels.

Specific Objectives

  • To share national and international experiences in implementing QI initiatives.

  • To showcase QI projects that have led to measurable improvements in healthcare.

  • To foster a network that supports QI efforts across all levels of the health sector.

  • To strengthen leadership capacity and inter-institutional collaboration.

  • To institutionalize the Annual National Quality Improvement Conferences as a pillar of healthcare quality enhancement.

The conference expects abstract submissions from all parts of the country, and this has been separated by regions as shown in the map below.

During the preparation for the conference, the National Health Research Authority (NHRA), through its capacity-building mandate, scheduled two webinars aimed at improving skills in effectively crafting Quality Improvement(QI) abstracts.
This initiative is part of NHRA’s effort to ensure that high-quality abstracts are written and submitted.
